Micah Carey, Regina graduate of 2019, will be inducted into the Detroit Catholic High School League Hall of Fame this June.

Carey was a standout member of the Regina Track & Field Team during her four years. She was named to the CHSL Honor Team three times as well as Macomb County Honors. She was named the team’s MVP her senior year.

Carey went on to continue her athletic career at the University of Detroit Mercy, where she excelled in relay events, but especially the long jump and triple jump. She not only had consistent top ten finishes in Horizon League meets, but she also holds the school record in the long jump, posting a 5.82 leap.

Carey is currently in her fifth year at Youngstown State University in Ohio where she most recently broke that school’s long jump record - surpassing her previous 5.82 distance - at 6.13m.

Carey is a Nursing Major and was a four-time member of the Detroit Mercy Athletic Director’s Honor Roll as well as a two-time member of the Horizon League Fall and Spring Academic Honor Roll.

On top of her athletic and academic success, Carey was president of her sorority on campus, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Theta Tau Chapter. She was one of only fifty undergraduates chosen in the U.S. to represent her sorority at a national leadership conference in San Diego.

On behalf of the entire Regina Community, we congratulate Micah on everything she has accomplished at Regina, University of Detroit Mercy, and Youngstown State, wishing her a successful final season. We’re very proud of her upcoming induction into the prestigious CHSL Hall of Fame, where she joins seventeen other Regina Saddlelites as members. Congratulations, Micah!
